Various natural phenomena will affect the country this Saturday, October 18, including a cold front that will gain strength; The National Meteorological Service (SMN), the official climate source of the Government of Mexico, reported this morning.
For today, intense occasional rains are expected in Chiapas (Sierra and Soconusco regions), as well as very heavy occasional rains in Guerrero and Oaxacadue to the entry of humid air from the Pacific Ocean, favored by the proximity of the monsoon trough.
During the course of this day, it is expected that the front no. 7 is reinforced by a mass of cold air that will bring it closer to the northern border of Mexicoand in interaction with the subtropical jet stream, will cause strong gusts of wind and isolated rain in areas of CoahuilaNuevo León and Tamaulipas.
For their part, low pressure channels over the interior of the national territory in combination with the entry of humid air from the Pacific Ocean, will generate heavy occasional rains in Michoacán, State of Mexico, Morelos and Puebla; rains with showers in Durango, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Mexico City and Tlaxcala; and isolated rains in areas of Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí and Hidalgo.
Finally, the entry of humid air from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea will cause heavy occasional rains in Quintana Roo; rains with showers in Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco and Veracruz (center and south), as well as isolated rains in Veracruz (north).
Intervals of showers and occasional strong to intense rains will be accompanied by electric shocks and could be accompanied by hail.

Heavy to intense rain could reduce visibility, increase river and stream levels, and cause ponding, landslides and flooding.
Strong gusts of wind could cause trees and billboards to fall.
